About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will start your career by applying your academic background to real client engagements. You will work alongside experienced team members who provide coaching and direction. This role offers a hands-on perspective on our audit practices and helps you build professional relationships.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to learn Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
- Become familiar with BDO audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
- Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Complete an assigned accounting or audit research project and present your findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
- Prepare and document work in working papers using specific firm tools.
- Contribute ideas to audit teams and respond to team member views.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team setting.
