About the role#
As a Tax Intern in International Tax Services, you will work with experienced team members to support clients on cross-border tax matters. You will apply your academic background to help research international tax issues, prepare tax advice, and manage reporting obligations for international operations. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with developing and implementing strategies to provide clients with international tax advice.
- Monitor tax law and client developments on a daily basis.
- Coordinate with non-US colleagues to align US tax rules with foreign tax law.
- Identify when research is necessary and prepare Written Tax Advice (WTA) for cross-border transactions.
- Assist in obtaining client information for international tax compliance forms and reporting.
- Use firm tax compliance software and research databases like RIA, BNA, and Lexis Nexis.
- Develop a basic understanding of ASC 740-10 and international tax compliance topics such as Subpart F income and foreign tax credits.
- Apply firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual to all work.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting, Taxation, or a Master of Laws (LLM) degree program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions from superiors.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases such as RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis, or Westlaw is preferred.
- Leadership experience, a J.D., or progress toward a CPA are preferred qualifications.
