About the role#
This is a full-time, on-site internship based in North Salt Lake, Utah. You will work within our refinery operations to support the engineering team with drafting, modeling, and updating technical drawings for infrastructure and equipment. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and mentorship from professional staff.
What you'll do#
- Create and revise mechanical drawings using AutoCAD, CadWorx, and 3D design software.
- Assist in the design and documentation of piping systems, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and structural supports.
- Work with engineers to translate design concepts into detailed technical drawings.
- Visit the field to verify dimensions, collect data, and update drawings.
- Maintain drawing databases and support document control.
- Use Cyclone Register360 for 3D laser scanning projects and integrate this data into AutoCAD workflows.
- Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in Industrial Design, Drafting and Design, Design Technology, CADD, or a related field.
- Junior or Senior standing is preferred.
- Familiarity with piping and mechanical drafting principles using CAD software.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A willingness to work in an industrial environment and perform field verifications.
