About the role#
BMO is seeking a Data Science Risk Analyst for a Winter 2027 internship. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Toronto. You will join our team to apply advanced analytical methods to large datasets, helping the bank make informed, risk-based decisions while supporting our data strategy.
What you'll do#
- Mine and analyze structured and unstructured data using advanced algorithms.
- Build and refine predictive models and machine learning systems.
- Design new processes for modeling data and investigate new technologies for innovative solutions.
- Conduct large-scale analysis to identify trends and patterns.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to business leaders to maintain market competitiveness.
- Collaborate with product teams and other analytics professionals to scale solutions and support business planning.
- Apply the BMO Risk Management Framework to ensure all decisions align with bank policies, laws, and regulations.
What you'll need#
- A post-secondary degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Typically 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced skills in data science, data management, and data analytics.
- Advanced experience with machine learning.
- Advanced proficiency in areas including analytical problem solving, data-driven decision making, Agile frameworks, and verbal or written communication.
- Intermediate proficiency in commercial astuteness, stakeholder management, systems thinking, and change management.
