About the role#
This is a 12-month full-time internship for Winter 2027 based in Toronto. You will join the BMO team to gain hands-on experience, contribute to real projects, and develop your professional network through mentorship programs and corporate learning resources. This role requires you to be currently enrolled in an academic program and returning to your studies after the internship.
What you'll do#
- Drive the software development lifecycle by transforming requirements into features.
- Write code and manage the preparation of design specifications.
- Analyze, develop, test, and implement new software programs.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault rectification.
- Translate user needs into technical specifications and document client requirements.
- Ensure all code and configurations follow security, logging, error handling, and performance standards.
- Support system design and provide advice on security requirements.
- Evaluate new technologies for fit and impact on existing systems.
- Follow release management processes and apply version controls.
- Apply the Risk Management Framework to protect bank assets and adhere to regulations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Computer Science or Computer Engineering academic program.
- Intermediate proficiency in programming, test driven development, and system development lifecycles.
- Experience with applications integration, troubleshooting, and system integration.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with a focus on collaboration.
- Foundational knowledge of cloud computing, microservices, and quality assurance.
- Ability to adapt to new challenges and demonstrate learning agility.
- Creative thinking and the ability to build and manage professional relationships.
