About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience within the Adult Recovery department. You will gain insight into client services through guided support activities, structured observation, and active participation in treatment environments. You will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to learn about mental health and substance use services.
What you'll do#
- Support client care by identifying individual strengths, needs, and challenges.
- Assist in documenting and reporting client interactions and behaviors.
- Participate in admission and orientation procedures, including safety checks and the collection of vital signs or lab specimens.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and treatment team meetings.
- Adhere to all standards regarding professional conduct, ethical practice, and confidentiality laws.
- Co-facilitate educational, recreational, and skills-building groups.
- Monitor client activities and serve as a positive role model.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program or higher in Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Public Health, Health Administration, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Sociology, or Anthropology.
- Required school approval and documentation confirming internship eligibility.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- An understanding of confidentiality requirements in behavioral health settings.
- The ability to build rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
