About the role#
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Intern supports workplace safety and risk reduction initiatives. You will focus on managing chemical inventories, strengthening regulatory compliance, and identifying ergonomic improvements to prevent injuries. This position provides hands-on experience in compliance, risk assessment, and the implementation of safety programs within a manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Audit and validate chemical inventories to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety data sheet accessibility.
- Identify chemical-related risks and prepare recommendations to improve compliance and reduce hazards.
- Conduct ergonomic risk assessments in high-risk work areas and document your findings.
- Assist in developing ergonomic improvement plans, including workstation design and material handling controls.
- Create training materials and best-practice guidelines to support employee safety awareness.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of corrective actions to evaluate their effectiveness.
What you'll need#
- University student in your 3rd or 4th year studying Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
- Basic knowledge of safety programs such as WHMIS, Ergonomics, PPE, LOTO, Work at Height, and PIVs.
- Ability to interpret and apply EHS regulations to a plant site.
- Capability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including production staff and engineering teams.
Location & details#
- Location: Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Work occurs in both an office and a manufacturing plant floor environment, with potential exposure to heat, noise, and production elements.
- You must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
