About the role#
CALSTART is hiring a Data Analysis Intern to join the Drive to Zero team. This role focuses on supporting research and analytical activities related to zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, infrastructure, and policy. You will contribute to projects that help governments and stakeholders transition to zero-emission transportation.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain a knowledge and tools repository for freight corridor electrification deployments.
- Develop a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model to assess how policy measures impact vehicle economics for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Create clear visualizations, summaries, and user-friendly outputs for policymakers.
- Work with the Drive to Zero team to prepare tools and resources for global replication.
- Assist with ongoing research on clean technology, infrastructure, and enabling policy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a Master's degree in engineering, energy, transportation, environmental science, economics, data science, or public policy.
- Experience building quantitative models, specifically TCO, techno-economic, financial, or policy-impact models.
- Familiarity with web-based tools, databases, dashboards, or digital knowledge platforms.
- Knowledge of zero-emission vehicles, charging infrastructure, or energy systems.
- Experience translating complex analytical work into intuitive, user-friendly visualizations.
- An interest in international collaboration and policy mechanisms like incentives and regulations.
Location & details#
- This is a remote position based in the East Coast, US.
- The role is paid at a rate of 19-21 USD per hour.
- Availability of 15-20 hours per week is required.
- This is a full-time commitment.
