About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. You will work on-site in either Lemont or Downers Grove, Illinois, for a 12-week term. You will support engineering teams by taking on various projects, learning refinery operations, and observing safe work practices. At the end of the program, you will prepare a presentation to share your accomplishments and experience.
What you'll do#
- Learn refinery organization, work processes, and safe work practices.
- Generate discipline-related work scopes and update project documentation.
- Edit the engineering training manual and review existing engineering files for accuracy.
- Assist with the creation and update of equipment reliability and integrity plans.
- Conduct site visits to support ongoing engineering efforts, including witnessing site activities and project scoping.
- Collaborate with senior project engineers and managers on technical tasks.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Electrical Engineering Bachelor Degree program with at least sophomore status.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week for the full 12-week summer program.
- A valid driver's license.
- Eligibility to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work in a team setting.
- A High School Diploma.
