About the role#
The G&PA Intern will work at the Lemont Refinery support center to assist with communications, community engagement, and government relations. This is a paid, full-time 12-week summer internship. You will build professional relationships with local media, elected officials, and the wider CITGO organization. At the end of the term, you will deliver a summary presentation of your work and accomplishments.
What you'll do#
- Write press releases and contribute stories to the quarterly employee newsletter.
- Use AP style in a professional environment.
- Assist with photography and creative concepts for local advertising.
- Coordinate local media buys and ad placements.
- Help organize events for employees and their families.
- Manage sponsorships and contributions.
- Participate in Team CITGO volunteer events and Partners in Education activities.
- Coordinate speaking engagements and events with local legislative delegations and elected officials.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Sophomore status or higher (must have completed freshman year).
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Eligibility for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
