    About the role#

    This co-op position offers practical experience in municipal utility operations and infrastructure projects. You will work under the supervision of licensed engineers and utility staff to support water and wastewater systems. The role focuses on applying engineering principles to real-world projects, including design, field inspection, and data analysis.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with the administration and design of capital improvement and maintenance projects.
    • Support project scheduling, budgeting, and cost estimating.
    • Review engineering plans, specifications, and contractor submittals.
    • Assist in construction observation, documentation, and project closeout activities.
    • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal departments to support project delivery.
    • Analyze water distribution and wastewater collection system performance.
    • Support operational initiatives like leak detection, inflow and infiltration reduction, and asset management.
    • Participate in field investigations, including data collection and GPS or GIS mapping.
    • Assist with hydraulic modeling, system planning, and evaluation of system improvements.
    • Prepare maps, drawings, and technical documents using CAD, GIS, and related software.
    • Maintain engineering records, databases, and asset management systems.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an associates or undergraduate program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
    • A valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • General knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and calculations.
    • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checks.
