About the role#
As a Quality Engineering Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, you will work alongside engineering and operational leaders to address real-world problems. This role involves managing lab workflows, supporting metallurgical processes, and contributing to plant safety. You will gain experience in the steel industry and build professional connections.
What you'll do#
- Complete monthly safety inspections and observations while ensuring plant safety policies are followed.
- Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
- Maintain test equipment calibrations and support the Steelmaking spectrometer lab.
- Create new operating efficiencies to improve production, testing, and shipping.
- Conduct data-mining investigations related to metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, and scrap charges.
- Manage 3rd party testing inspections.
- Track Steelmaking scrap, referrals, and diversions.
- Perform metallurgical grade maintenance, development, and investigations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027.
- Current legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
