About the role#
The Stress and Fatigue Lab Intern will support the validation of agricultural equipment and components. You will work alongside engineers and technicians to execute durability and structural tests, collect data, and communicate results that support product reliability. This role provides hands-on experience with hydraulic test systems and advanced data acquisition technologies.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with the setup and execution of structural, durability, and fatigue tests.
- Install and verify instrumentation, including strain gauges, load cells, pressure transducers, thermocouples, accelerometers, and displacement sensors.
- Support data collection using laboratory data acquisition systems.
- Analyze test results and prepare technical summaries, charts, and reports.
- Assist with test fixture design, fabrication coordination, and laboratory setup activities.
- Support failure investigations and root cause analysis.
- Maintain accurate test records, daily logs, and documentation.
- Collaborate with design engineering teams to support product validation.
- Follow all safety procedures and laboratory operating requirements.
- Travel to the field to collect data.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
- Understanding of stress, strain, fatigue, and durability principles.
- Experience working with sensors and instrumentation.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical systems.
- Experience with data acquisition systems such as Dewesoft, eDAQ, or similar platforms.
- Hands-on fabrication or shop experience.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
