About the role#
Cordell and Cordell PC is hiring a Summer Associate for the Summer 2027 term. This paid, full-time internship is based on-site in Raleigh, North Carolina. The program mimics the experience of a first-year associate, providing practical legal work, mentorship, and professional development. Successful participants may be offered part-time law clerk positions during their third year or full-time roles after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Draft and analyze legal documents for active family law cases.
- Conduct legal research and prepare trial materials.
- Attend court proceedings alongside experienced attorneys.
- Participate in client meetings to observe case strategy.
- Work directly with a Litigation Partner to build a foundation in family law practice.
- Attend firm-sponsored networking and social events.
- Assist with other tasks as needed to support firm operations.
What you'll need#
- Current 2L student status with an expected 2028 graduation date from an accredited law school.
- A minimum law school GPA of 3.0.
- A clear interest in building a career in family law.
- Ability to reside or relocate to the assigned office location for the program duration.
- Flexibility regarding work location upon graduation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Compensation: $35 per hour.
