About the role#
This internship supports the Application Development and Product Technology groups within the Engineering Plastics business. You will work in the laboratory to test material formulations and chemistries to improve performance. This role involves hands-on lab work, plastic part design, and mold design activities.
What you'll do#
- Devise test plans to see how material formulation affects physical properties.
- Coordinate experimental work including material preparation, injection molding, and testing.
- Conduct mechanical and thermal testing on parts and samples using lab equipment.
- Analyze data and write summaries for project stakeholders.
- Develop design concepts using CAD software.
- Support marketing efforts by preparing reports and presentations.
- Conduct and support advanced injection molding and processing studies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical, Material Science, or Chemical Engineering.
- Completion of your Freshman year of college by the start date.
- A college GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Familiarity with structural and thermal analysis concepts.
- Ability to coordinate projects and find technical solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
- Familiarity with lab testing equipment and AI tools.
