About the role#
As a Logistics Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in transportation and logistics management. You will work with a vertically integrated team to support daily operations, assist with carrier relations, and learn the technical requirements of the building materials industry.
What you'll do#
- Communicate with customers and advise the dispatch team on specialty needs.
- Manage sales orders in the Libra software system and maintain carrier fleet kiosk cards.
- Create demand orders for HMA plants and emulsion customers.
- Assist the Logistics Manager with trailer maintenance, repairs, and PPE procurement.
- Participate in daily dispatch updates and monitor new driver training.
- Review broker loads for ticket reconciliation and assist with ticket disruption diagnoses.
- Support carrier recruiting and retention efforts.
- Gather and distribute operational regulations to the carrier fleet.
- Help managers and drivers with Hours of Service to maximize operational efficiency.
- Meet with personnel at customer locations and HMA plants.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing an Associate or Bachelor degree in Logistics or a related field.
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications, reports, and manuals.
- Intermediate math skills, including algebra, geometry, and shop math.
- Capability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- A professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers and the public.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and travel as required.
- Ability to adhere to strict safety policies and procedures.
