About the role#
This is a part-time, paid Pharmacy Intern position based in Dunkirk, New York. You will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy operations and professional development.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences, to gain an overview of pharmacy operations.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in all patient interactions.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Support immunization services where permissible by law, including educating patients and documenting information.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong focus and the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Proficiency in using math to solve problems, such as calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks like lifting up to 20 lbs.
