About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while you support our pharmacy teams in delivering safe and accurate care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing caring service.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and contact them to clarify details or facilitate medication changes.
- Maintain self-awareness and provide mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Educate patients on vaccines and support immunization services where permitted by law.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- A customer service orientation, with a friendly approach to helping others.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, and reaching or stooping as needed.
