About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit information on medical history.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Perform basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into, or active enrollment in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Capacity to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide empathetic customer service.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
