About the role#
The One Detroit Journalism and Video Production Intern supports the Detroit Bureau staff in creating weekly episodes, daily social media content, and web material. This internship provides practical experience in video journalism and production while working with the One Detroit team. This is an unpaid educational opportunity.
What you'll do#
- Attend department meetings and offer content suggestions.
- Research topics, logistics, and locations for productions.
- Assist with in-studio filming and join location field shoots.
- Provide production support to One Detroit producers.
- Help the Digital Content Specialist create social media and web posts.
- Observe show edit sessions to learn about production and editing techniques.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a university or vocational tech program, or graduation within the past 6 months.
- Preference for degrees in journalism, film, video production, telecommunications, communications, or business and marketing.
- Ability to work approximately 20 hours per week across at least 3 days.
- Strong oral, written, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and Media Encoder.
- Solid online research skills and a general sense of administrative management.
