About the role#
Detroit PBS is seeking a Production and Operations Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports broadcast and digital video production through hands-on experience. You will work with producers on studio, field, and digital programs, as well as station promotions. This is an unpaid educational internship.
What you'll do#
- Serve as a production assistant during field, virtual, and studio shoots.
- Gather releases, capture behind-the-scenes content, and greet guests.
- Write program descriptions and create assets like transcripts, soundbites, and thumbnails.
- Log footage and assist the producer with script notes.
- Review edits and provide feedback.
- Create program cutdowns for social media platforms.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a college or university, or graduation within the past 6 months.
- Preference for majors in Media Studies, Communications, or Journalism.
- Ability to work approximately 20 hours per week for 14-16 weeks.
- Basic skills in camera operation, lighting, and audio.
- Experience with non-linear editing and graphics creation.
- Strong organizational skills and basic proficiency in office software.
Location & details#
- The role is based in Wixom, Michigan.
- This is a hybrid position involving on-site work, remote tasks, and field production.
- Some night and weekend availability is required.
