About the role#
This internship supports the DIRECTV for Business Product Development team. You will work on artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to create video solutions for the commercial market. This is a 10-week summer program based in our Clarksburg, Maryland office.
What you'll do#
- Build an AI-powered media intelligence platform that analyzes live and recorded video content.
- Work with video metadata, closed captions, speech-to-text transcripts, and machine learning models to identify topics and enable search across video streams.
- Support the full model development lifecycle, including data collection, preprocessing, feature selection, training, and validation.
- Prototype deep learning architectures using PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Develop data-processing pipelines and experiment with embeddings and semantic search.
- Build and benchmark baseline models like linear regression, decision trees, and support vector machines.
- Evaluate model performance using metrics such as accuracy, precision, and recall.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a four-year undergraduate or advanced degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or Data Science.
- Proficiency in Python and its ML ecosystem, specifically NumPy and pandas.
- Ability to write reproducible training and evaluation scripts.
- Experience with Linux or Android.
- Full U.S. work authorization.

- Location: Clarksburg, MD.
- Modality: On-site (3-5 days per week).
- Term: Summer 2027 (10 weeks).
- Program Dates: June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027 or June 14, 2027 to August 20, 2027.
- Compensation: $25 to $34 per hour, depending on academic status.
