About the role#
DOWL is hiring a Construction Engineering & Inspection Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This role supports our team in managing, administering, and inspecting civil infrastructure projects. You will work alongside engineers and construction professionals to ensure projects meet quality standards and progress requirements.
What you'll do#
- Research and document existing conditions at project sites through site visits.
- Perform engineering calculations to support construction projects.
- Monitor the quality and progress of work during site visits.
- Assist survey crews with field tasks.
- Perform inspections for transportation and heavy civil projects.
- Support in-service inspections of bridges, walls, culverts, and tanks.
- Complete other engineering duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least one to two years of college-level coursework toward a baccalaureate degree in civil, environmental, or construction engineering technology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts including probability, statistical analysis, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to interpret technical journals and instructions.
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
