About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Lake Oswego, Oregon. You will join our transportation planning and design team to work on infrastructure projects. This role involves working alongside experienced professionals to gain practical experience in the built environment.
What you'll do#
- Research and visit project sites to document existing conditions.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design projects.
- Handle manual or AutoCAD drafting tasks.
- Coordinate with government agencies, clients, and other professionals for design information and approvals.
- Manage project correspondence and record keeping.
- Visit construction sites to monitor work quality and progress.
- Help write and edit construction specifications.
- Calculate construction bid quantities and estimate costs.
- Assist survey crews and lab technicians with materials testing.
- Conduct construction inspections for roadway projects.
What you'll need#
- Completion of one to two years of college-level coursework toward a baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering.
- A valid driver's license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project software.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts including geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistics.
- Skills to interpret technical instructions and analyze scientific journals.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, the public, and co-workers.
- Prior work experience in construction or civil engineering is helpful.
- AutoCAD experience is highly desirable.
