    About the role#

    Draper is hiring an Electro-Mechanical Instrument Co-op to support the research and development of precision inertial guidance instruments. This position runs for six months, from January through June 2027. You will work on-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as part of a full-time, paid internship.

    What you'll do#

    • Contribute to electro-mechanical design, thermal model development, and magnetics design.
    • Use CAD and FEA tools to design instrument components.
    • Perform materials testing, hardware assembly, test, and debug.
    • Coordinate with the prototype machine shop and the Center for Additive Manufacturing to produce and evaluate parts.
    • Work with software packages such as CREO, SolidWorks, ANSYS, COMSOL, LabVIEW, and MATLAB.

    What you'll need#

    • Current student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, or a similar field.
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • Practical, hands-on experience.
    • US Citizenship is required. Draper cannot provide sponsorship or hire individuals holding H1B or student visas, and dual-citizens are not eligible for this role.

    • Term: Winter 2027 (January through June).
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $20.00 - $45.00 per hour.
