About the role#
As a Survey Intern at Emery Sapp & Sons, you will work alongside experienced technicians to learn construction layout and surveying techniques. This role offers hands-on experience with field equipment and exposure to construction workflows. It is a full-time position that typically involves 50 or more hours per week, including potential on-call duties for weather or site emergencies.
What you'll do#
- Set up, adjust, and operate surveying instruments.
- Calibrate sites for GPS rovers and GPS Machine Control.
- Provide topographic and cross-section surveys for planning and payment quantities.
- Use engineering plans to establish lines and grades for construction purposes.
- Prepare documentation of surveying activities.
What you'll need#
- At least two years of construction industry experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate field equipment including Total Stations, GPS Rovers, and Auto Levels.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Enrollment in or pursuit of a Civil Engineering degree or related field.
