About the role#
Essentia Health is hiring individuals to start a career in the medical field through a paid training program. You will work at Oak Crossing, a long-term care facility in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. This position offers an entry point into healthcare, where Essentia covers the cost of your training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Upon passing your certification exam, you will be promoted to a CNA role, which includes a pay increase and a set schedule.
What you'll do#
You will work as part of a self-directed, cross-trained team to provide care in a home-like environment. Your responsibilities include:
- Participating in paid training to earn your CNA certification.
- Performing direct resident care.
- Handling housekeeping, laundry, and dietary functions.
- Assisting with activity functions for residents.
- Coordinating resident-centered care following facility policies and programs.
What you'll need#
- No specific educational background is required.
- You must pass the educational component and become certified as a CNA on the Minnesota state registry within four months of your hire date.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, though not required.
- An interest in long-term care is preferred.

- Schedule: Includes rotating day, evening, and night shifts, with every other weekend and holiday work required.
