    About the role#

    The Student Researcher program connects PhD students with research projects that align with company priorities. You will join teams across Google, including Google Research and Google DeepMind, to work on projects that advance scientific knowledge. These roles are non-conversion eligible, meaning they are intended for students who will return to their studies after the internship.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop solutions for real-world, large-scale problems.
    • Collaborate with research teams on innovative challenges.
    • Support the creation of new technologies.
    • Contribute to scientific advancement across various research areas.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related field.
    • Experience in a computer science area such as Natural Language Understanding, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Vision, or Machine Learning.
    • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language like Python, Java, JavaScript, or C/C++.
    • Previous research experience through labs or internships.
    • Enrollment in a full-time degree program with plans to return after the internship.
    • English proficiency for global collaboration.

    Location & details#

    • Locations: Waterloo, ON; Montreal, QC; or Toronto, ON.
    • Modality: On-site in Canada for the duration of the internship.
    • Term: Rolling basis with start dates between January and July 2026.
    • Status: Paid, full-time position.
