About the role#
As an R&D Intern, you will support sensory science and product quality initiatives. You will gain hands-on experience by working with the Trademark Excellence Sensory Insights team to ensure products meet high standards for flavor, functionality, and performance. This role provides an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a professional research environment.
What you'll do#
- Conduct independent sensory and R&D research projects focused on product quality.
- Analyze trial results using statistical methods.
- Communicate research findings through written reports and verbal presentations.
- Assist with daily lab projects, surveys, and evaluations.
- Support scientists with trial planning, testing, execution, data collection, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand how different departments contribute to product performance.
- Taste food products and document observations using sensory evaluation tools.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in food science, nutrition, biology, chemistry, agriculture, pharmaceutical sciences, environmental engineering, psychology, or business administration.
- Sophomore status or greater at an accredited college or university.
- Interest in research and development, specifically in new product development, sensory science, or microbiology.
- Advanced skills in Word and Excel, including graphing, table manipulation, and statistical application.
- Strong math skills with some exposure to statistics.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple duties across different areas.
