About the role#
The Thermofluids Team within the Specialized Engineering and Products Group is looking for a student to join them for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on global projects from our Mississauga office, using first principles and numerical methods to solve engineering challenges in the metals, energy, and infrastructure industries.
What you'll do#
- Use numerical methods, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to solve fluid flow and heat transfer problems.
- Work independently and with team members to address thermofluids engineering problems.
- Communicate analysis results to other engineering teams and clients through technical reports and presentations.
- Participate in design decisions and guide project teams.
- Develop new in-house numerical tools and models.
What you'll need#
- Currently in your 3rd or 4th year of a Chemical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil/Environmental Engineering degree.
- Completed core courses in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and numerical methods with high standing.
- Strong understanding of transport phenomena, particularly fluid mechanics and heat and mass transfer.
- Understanding of numerical methods like finite-volume and finite-difference methods.
- Strong aptitude for numerical analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Collaborative approach with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of health and safety.
- Integrity and ethical decision-making.
- Desirable experience includes commercial CFD software (Ansys Fluent, Siemens STAR-CCM+), 1-D flow network software (Flownex, Arrow), and scientific programming (MATLAB, C++, Fortran, Python).
