    About the role#

    HealthCorps is looking for interns to serve as near-peer mentors for middle and high school students in Southern Ohio. You will act as a catalyst for health and wellness by leading the Teens Make Health Happen program. This role involves working directly with school sites to empower students to make healthier choices for themselves and their communities.

    What you'll do#

    • Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to deliver programming across 2 to 3 school sites.
    • Research health inequities at your assigned schools and complete needs assessments to track your impact.
    • Plan and lead the Teens Make Health Happen program for 6 to 8 hours each week.
    • Host monthly Café O Yea demonstrations and provide support for regional events.
    • Promote wellness and create leadership opportunities for students at your sites.

    What you'll need#

    • Current undergraduate or graduate student in public health, psychology, nursing, nutrition, biology, or related fields.
    • Good academic standing with your university.
    • Ability to commit 6 to 8 hours per week for the duration of the Fall 2026 semester.
    • Comfort in learning and presenting health topics to a teen audience.
    • A desire to grow personally and professionally as a community leader.
    • Ability to travel up to 60 miles to assigned sites and lift up to 15 pounds.

    • Locations: Portsmouth, Gallipolis, Goshen, Peebles, and Fayetteville, Ohio.
    • Modality: Hybrid.
    • Term: Fall 2026.
    • Compensation: This is a paid internship. College credit may be available depending on university requirements.
