About the role#
This summer internship supports the Engineering Technical Services team. You will focus on finite element analysis (FEA), data analysis for process improvement, and the application of AI tools to engineering workflows.
What you'll do#
- Support FEA activities in Ansys, including model setup, meshing, and defining boundary conditions.
- Assist with material property assignments, solver execution, and the evaluation of analysis results.
- Analyze engineering and operational data to find trends, bottlenecks, and quality issues.
- Identify opportunities for business process improvement.
- Evaluate and apply AI-enabled tools to automate tasks, organize engineering knowledge, and support calculations.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Graduate degree program at an accredited university.
- A major in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills to work both independently and within a team.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Prior coursework, research, or project experience using Ansys or other FEA software is preferred.
- Experience with data analysis or visualization tools and an interest in applying AI tools to engineering problems are preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Houston, Texas.
- The role is on-site and full-time for the Summer 2027 term.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
