About the role#
The Electrical Engineering Intern will support our engineering team in the design, development, and testing of electrical control systems for drilling equipment. This role provides hands-on experience with schematic capture, control cabinet design, and PLC integration. You will work alongside experienced engineers to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world industry challenges.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior engineers with the design and documentation of electrical control cabinets, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
- Participate in the integration and testing of PLC-based control systems.
- Help with component selection, specification review, and vendor research for electrical hardware.
- Support lab testing, troubleshooting, and validation of prototypes and production equipment.
- Collect and analyze test data.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to summarize your findings.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and commissioning teams on cross-functional projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Degree must be from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills to collaborate across multiple functions.
