About the role#
Interfor is hiring an Operations Intern for a summer 2027 term at our Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario location. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain practical skills and understand how people, equipment, and technology function in a modern manufacturing environment. We provide a salary starting from $3,350 per month, depending on your year in school and experience, along with a temporary living allowance for those relocating for the role.
What you'll do#
- Gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment and learn how a sawmill operates.
- Explore production processes to understand how teams work together to produce quality wood products.
- Contribute to projects focused on process improvement, operational efficiency, and production performance.
- Analyze data and observations to identify opportunities for improvement across mill operations.
- Build leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills by working with experienced operations professionals.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a degree or diploma in Wood Products Processing, Business, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work across different teams and departments.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Curiosity and a hands-on approach to learning how a manufacturing operation works.
