About the role#
As a Design Services intern at Interstates, you will gain hands-on experience in industrial electrical design and construction. You will work alongside professionals on real projects, contributing to current initiatives while building your knowledge of electrical disciplines, business operations, and project management. This is a rolling internship opportunity.
What you'll do#
- Collect data and review information to define project scope.
- Record design decisions in software to assist with equipment specifications and drawings.
- Use 2D and 3D drafting software, including AutoCAD and Revit, to develop electrical drawings for contractors and fabricators.
- Communicate project updates clearly to team members and clients.
- Develop electrical distribution plans.
- Travel to job sites or shop locations to work alongside craft and manufacturing teams as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an engineering degree program (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Chemical, or Business Administration).
- Candidates pursuing a drafting degree from a technical college are also encouraged to apply.
- 0-4 years of electrical experience or education.
- Knowledge of or interest in manufacturing, industrial, and electrical systems.
- Ability to work effectively with superintendents, engineers, estimators, and customers.
