About the role#
Johnsonville is hiring an intern for the Sustainable Swine Resources team in Watertown, Wisconsin. This division focuses on creating value and sustainability from porcine tissues not used in sausage production. These materials serve industries such as animal feed, pet products, pharmaceuticals, medical, and research. You will work with an innovative team to develop solutions for our customers and support business goals.
What you'll do#
- Assess new ways to add value to porcine tissues across various industries.
- Partner with a cross functional team to evaluate and improve tissue processing procedures.
- Research techniques to assist in the development of new products.
- Build a business plan and present your findings to the team.
- Use entrepreneurial skills to turn new ideas into practical solutions.
- Maintain accurate work records, including status reports and notebooks.
- Travel to other facilities, including harvest sites.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a Bachelor degree in biology, animal science, biomedical engineering, pre-med, business, or a related field.
- Sophomore to senior status is preferred.
- A minimum 3.5 GPA is strongly preferred.
- Prior work experience is preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to share results, ideas, and questions.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A valid driver license is required to travel to the Sheboygan Falls campus.

- Term: Summer 2027, beginning May 24, 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- This position is paid. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
