About the role#
Kahuna is hiring Staff Engineer Interns to support our engineering departments. You will receive on-the-job training from professional engineers and project managers while designing industrial facilities in the energy industry. This role is designed to provide practical experience and challenging objectives.
What you'll do#
- Generate instrumentation lists, specifications, RFQs, and data sheets based on P&ID and process model information.
- Create piping isometrics from scratch, including bills of materials.
- Design medium and low voltage power systems and PLC-based process control, automation, and communication systems.
- Perform project engineering tasks such as client interaction, job scoping, equipment specification, engineering calculations, and drawing reviews.
- Assist with contractor bidding, onsite construction inspection, system commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in construction activities, facility startup, and the creation of operating procedures.
- Manage various project engineering tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to travel to field project locations.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Self-motivation and the ability to react to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to pass an initial drug screen and background check.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
