About the role#
This summer internship offers hands-on experience in wheat breeding operations. You will work outdoors alongside a team of experts during the wheat harvest season. This is a full-time, paid position based in Champaign, Illinois, running through the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Hand harvest research material in wheat fields.
- Assist with combine harvesting of yield plots.
- Operate research equipment such as threshers, cleaners, and seed counters.
- Organize seed stocks in the warehouse for future sowing.
- Support field planting operations.
- Follow company safety policies and ensure proper use of protective equipment.
- Work extended hours and Saturdays as needed.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Agriculture, Biology, Crop Sciences, or Plant Breeding.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license, farming knowledge, and tractor driving experience are preferred.

- This position requires the ability to work non-standard hours, including Saturdays and occasional overnight travel.
