About the role#
The Lansing Board of Water & Light is hiring two IT Interns for the summer of 2027. You will work within our Information Technology Department to support business transformation projects and cybersecurity improvements. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lansing, Michigan, running from May 17, 2027, to August 13, 2027. You will be paid $23.00 per hour and will work under the supervision of a mentor.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain software alongside our IT developers.
- Configure network devices in coordination with server and network technicians.
- Assist the project management office with coordination tasks.
- Help mitigate cybersecurity risks.
- Collect and analyze data.
- Use standard office software and SAP.
- Follow BWL IT standards and industry best practices.
- Attend training, safety awareness sessions, and skills development workshops.
- Adhere to the BWL Safety Manual and wear required personal protective equipment when working in the field.
- Maintain reliable attendance and follow all company policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited educational institution with a focus on Information Technology.
- Junior or senior status during the summer of 2027.
- Enrollment in classes for the fall of 2027.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Successful completion of a background check, substance screening, and a physical exam if required.
