    About the role#

    LiquidPiston is hiring a Composite Engineering Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Suffield, Connecticut. You will work alongside engineers and technicians to support the design, fabrication, and testing of composite components for advanced propulsion technology.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with the design and development of composite components and structures.
    • Support composite part fabrication, including layup, trimming, bonding, and finishing.
    • Develop tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
    • Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues to identify solutions.
    • Participate in the testing and evaluation of composite assemblies.
    • Create and update engineering documentation, drawings, and work instructions.
    • Maintain records of fabrication, testing, and development activities.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering.
    • Hands-on experience working with composite materials.
    • Familiarity with carbon fiber, fiberglass, epoxy systems, prepreg, or wet layup processes.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to work in a lab or manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in CAD software is preferred.
