About the role#
The IT Intern at Magna Engineered Glass supports technology initiatives with a focus on Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), hardware support, and plant operations. You will help maintain system reliability and contribute to application development projects. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. The position is part-time during the winter term with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time internship in Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Provide MES support by troubleshooting system issues, creating labels, and performing Python and HTML development.
- Assist with hardware commissioning and decommissioning, including setup, configuration, and asset tracking.
- Support MES-related projects such as labeling solutions, warehouse systems, mobile applications, and GUI enhancements.
- Perform IT support tasks like computer preparation, workstation setup, and production line support.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate complex problems to senior team members.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment while assisting with various departmental goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science or a related field.
- Basic coding experience, with a preference for Python, HTML, and JavaScript skills.
- A general understanding of computer systems, hardware, and networking fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards and protocols.
- English proficiency with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Holland, Michigan.
- Modality: On-site.
- Terms: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Environment: The role is split between an office (80%) and a plant environment (20%). Physical requirements include standing for up to 4 hours and lifting up to 35 pounds.
