About the role#
Mauldin & Jenkins is hiring for their Accounting Internship Program. You will work in the office or in the field on audits, management services, and tax return preparation. This role involves developing technical skills while supporting client engagements and senior staff members.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls.
- Test compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare financial statements based on generally accepted accounting principles.
- Examine client reconciliations for bank and subsidiary accounts to investigate discrepancies.
- Schedule computations of accruals and document the support for them.
- Prepare schedules for write-offs of prepaid expenses and deferred charges.
- Review data input and assist in the review of tax preparations.
- Identify, research, and resolve technical tax issues.
- Provide information to senior staff members.
- Meet deadlines for tax returns and other assigned projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program with a major or concentration in accounting.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
- Working knowledge of federal and state income tax laws.
- Awareness of current developments in the accounting profession.
- Ability to speak and write effectively.
- Professional appearance and conduct.
- High level of accuracy when handling numeric and alphabetic information.
- Proficiency in using firm manuals and software.
