About the role#
Mauldin & Jenkins is hiring for their Internship Program in Baton Rouge. This is a full-time, paid position where you will work on engagements involving audits, management services, and tax return preparation. You will work on-site and may need to travel overnight as part of your assignments.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the study, evaluation, and testing of internal accounting controls.
- Prepare financial statements following generally accepted accounting principles.
- Examine client reconciliations for bank and subsidiary accounts to investigate discrepancies.
- Compute accruals and document underlying support.
- Prepare schedules for write-offs of prepaid expenses and deferred charges.
- Review data input and assist in the review of tax preparations.
- Identify, research, and resolve technical tax issues.
- Provide information to senior staff members and meet project deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a college degree program with a major or concentration in accounting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
- Working knowledge of federal and state income tax laws.
- Ability to maintain accuracy when handling information.
- Professional appearance in attitude, dress, and conduct.
- Ability to provide your own housing and transportation.
