About the role#
Michael Baker International is looking for a Traffic Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work within the Traffic and ITS department in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, supporting local and statewide transportation projects. You will collaborate with professional engineers, project managers, and other design professionals to learn the trade through hands-on project work.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic to moderate design work and engineering calculations.
- Draft using CADD software.
- Prepare basic project reports.
- Assist with data collection, input, verification, and manipulation.
- Conduct field-oriented assignments.
- Work as an active member of the Traffic and ITS team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors degree program for Civil Engineering with at least 2 years of coursework completed.
- Good academic standing.
- A valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with PDF manipulation tools like Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
- Working knowledge of CADD, specifically MicroStation.
- A desire to develop programming skills.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
- The ability to work independently with intermittent supervision and thrive in a team environment.

- Location: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Compensation: $24 per hour.
- Note: This position does not offer a housing subsidy.
