About the role#
Milliman is seeking an Actuarial Analyst Intern for our Indianapolis Health and Human Services team for the Summer 2027 term. This 11-week program offers the chance to work on projects, receive structured mentorship, and present findings to leadership. You will join a team that supports Medicaid agencies and other health organizations across the U.S. Interns receive 1:1 guidance, participate in professional development sessions, and engage in office social activities.
What you'll do#
- Analyze healthcare cost and utilization data using claims databases.
- Examine benefit plan designs and insurance pricing models.
- Perform experience analysis, reserving, and technical research.
- Reconcile claims data and project future costs.
- Provide financial and statistical analysis to support client needs.
- Prepare and present written reports and oral presentations regarding your work.
- Use Gen AI tools to support analysis and improve workflow efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mathematics, Statistics, Psychology, Political Science, Data Science, Health Administration, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- A strong desire to expand actuarial skills and pursue Fellowship.
- Proficiency in Excel and a willingness to learn new software and coding skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of Gen AI tools and their application in the workplace.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher is preferred.
- Completion of at least one Society of Actuaries exam is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- The role is paid and includes a housing stipend, transit benefits, and accrued PTO.
