About the role#
As a Quality Control Intern, you will work alongside laboratory, production, and quality professionals to improve product quality, process consistency, and manufacturing performance. You will evaluate testing methods, support process improvement initiatives, and help ensure products meet quality standards. This role involves applying statistical tools and analyzing data to solve real-world quality challenges within a chemical manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Perform Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility studies to evaluate the accuracy of laboratory testing methods.
- Analyze measurement system performance and partner with laboratory personnel to develop recommendations.
- Utilize Statistical Quality Control and Statistical Process Control tools to identify sources of variation.
- Analyze production and laboratory data to establish operating limits and improve consistency.
- Evaluate laboratory test turnaround times and identify process bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Technical teams to identify root causes of quality issues.
- Collect, organize, and interpret quality data to create reports, dashboards, and presentations.
- Present project updates and final results to quality and site leadership teams.
- Participate in quality investigations, process reviews, and cross-functional improvement discussions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific or technical discipline.
- Strong interest in laboratory operations, quality systems, and manufacturing environments.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and solve technical problems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
- Commitment to maintaining safe work practices in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
- Preferred: Coursework in analytical chemistry, statistics, or process control.
- Preferred: Experience using laboratory equipment or presenting technical findings.
Location & details#
- Location: Friendly, West Virginia.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
- Requirements: Must be available 40 hours a week for 10-12 weeks between May and August.
