About the role#
This Co-op position with the Affinity Selections Team offers an opportunity to work with DNA-encoded library (DEL) technology. You will join our Research and Development Division for up to 6 months to support our small molecule pipeline. This role provides exposure to early drug discovery processes and may offer a pathway to co-authorship on scientific publications and presentations.
What you'll do#
- Develop new DEL selection methodologies using biochemical and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques.
- Screen proteins of interest to identify small molecule binders.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to gain insight into drug discovery.
- Maintain industry-standard laboratory practices and document your experiments.
- Present your findings through oral and written reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D. program in biochemistry, chemical biology, biophysics, chemistry, or a related field.
- A solid foundation in standard biochemical techniques.
- At least 3 months of continuous, hands-on experience in a scientific lab performing experiments like PCR or gel electrophoresis.
- A strong interest in designing assays and tackling affinity selection challenges.
- Excellent academic performance and the ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
