About the role#
The Analytical Sciences Group provides chemistry support for research and development teams. As an undergraduate intern, you will join a team performing compositional analysis on biomass-derived samples. These samples come from experiments involving fermentation, catalysis, and polymer deconstruction. You will work in a laboratory environment while adhering to strict technical, environmental, and safety standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior team members with sample preparation for instrumental analysis.
- Run analyses using techniques such as liquid chromatography, near-infrared spectroscopy, and elemental analysis.
- Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments.
- Keep detailed laboratory records.
- Document and report analytical data to the research team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a chemistry, biochemistry, physics, biomedical sciences, or biomedical engineering degree program.
- Recent graduates who finished their degree within the last 12 months are also eligible.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
- Previous experience with instrumental analysis.
- Significant attention to detail and clear record-keeping skills.
