About the role#
The Veteran Education Benefits Assistant supports the School Certifying Official team at National University. You will help provide accurate and timely assistance to students using Veterans Education Benefits. This role involves working with team leadership to identify the needs of military-affiliated students and participating in campus initiatives, such as the Veteran Center Food Pantry. You will also represent the office by attending webinars, student orientations, and training seminars.
What you'll do#
- Field inquiries regarding Veteran Education Benefits in person, by phone, and virtually.
- Assist with reporting student enrollments to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Process VA correspondence and handle general administrative tasks.
- Support the effective delivery of on-campus Veteran Services.
- Complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current National University student receiving Veteran Education Benefits under Title 38, U.S.C., Chapters 30, 31, 32, 33, 35, 1606, or the Edith N. Rogers STEM Scholarship.
- Enrollment in an approved program at a rate of 3/4 time or greater.
- Maintenance of good academic standing per the university Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
- Experience in customer service and relations.
- A fundamental understanding of Veterans Education Benefits and the ability to navigate VA.gov, Ask VA, eBenefits.gov, and the GI Bill Comparison Tool.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and communication within hybrid work environments.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and meet performance and dress code standards.
