About the role#
The Veteran and Military Community Center Assistant provides support to the VMCC Associate Director, the VMCC Coordinator, and School Certifying Officials. This role assists Veteran students and their dependents with general inquiries regarding benefits and campus activities. You will work within the Campus Operations department to help maintain a supportive environment for the military community at National University.
What you'll do#
- Answer phone calls, manage email correspondence, and greet walk-in students.
- Help students navigate Veteran education benefits and direct them to appropriate university support services.
- Participate in community outreach and on-campus events.
- Collect and track data, perform basic analysis, and generate reports.
- Assist with the creation and distribution of Veterans publications like brochures and flyers.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and university guidelines regarding information security.
- Perform general clerical tasks and attend required training sessions.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current National University student receiving Veteran Education Benefits.
- Enrollment in an approved program at 3/4 time or greater.
- Ability to maintain good academic standing per the university SAP policy.
- Prior experience in customer service and customer relations.
- A fundamental understanding of Veterans Education Benefits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and complete projects on time.
- Ability to meet campus dress code and performance standards.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position located at the Spectrum Center in San Diego, California.
- The role is part-time and paid at $16.90 per hour.
- Veterans with service-connected disabilities rated at 30 percent or more receive hiring priority for this position.
